
Anytime surgery is a consideration to fix a health issue, the health issue should be something that changes a persons' way of life. Not just for vanity. All surgery comes with its share of risks and we as people need to educate ourselves about the risks to see if the surgery is even worth it. Bariatric surgery is not for people looking for a quick fix or a way out of eating right and excersing properly. This surgery is a last resort for many.


There are many natural alternatives to help prevent obesity including partaking in regular physical activities and exercise, eating a balanced diet that contains more vegetables, lean meats, and also indulging in foods with less carbs and sugars. There are many programs that cater to preventing obesity and helping those who are obese to lose weight in a safe and efficient way. Parents can also make sure that their children have healthy eating habits as well as maybe enrolling them in some sort of physical activitiy after school or just making sure that they are active in general and spend less time playing video games and watching television. The solution starts with each individual and most people have a choice whether they take the elevator vs. taking the steps and things of that nature. Just by simply standing up more everyday people can see a change in their health. It’s also a huge responsibility on our government’s part to make sure that everyone has equal and fair access to healthier food options that aren’t so expensive for those who may come from lower income and poverty backgrounds. There needs to be more incentives to eating healthy. Taxing junk food only hurts those who live in low income areas and makes it harder to afford any food at all.
